What is Floorball?
Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with 96–115.5 cm-long (37.8–45.5 in) sticks and a 22–23 cm-circumference (8.7–9.1 in) plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. (Wikipedia)
Floorball is a low-barrier, easily accessible sport that enhances ones physical skills as well as the ability to work in teams. All you need is a place to play (for instance, a sports hall or an indoor courtyard), floorball ball and sticks, a goal and of course, buddies to play with!
Floorball has gained popularity all over the world due to the committed communities and players as well as through long-term co-operation between floorball organisations. In Finland floorball has more than 500,000 active players. Floorball is a growing sport in the Asia Pacific Region, and Classic Floorball Academy is committed to raising awareness of the sport and its many health benefits.
In November 2017 we brought two top Finnish teams, Classic and TPS to Singapore to play the first official Finnish league game outside of Finland. Over 100 schools participated in school tournaments and during their visit, both Classic and TPS reached out to more than 50 of these schools and ran floorball clinics. This familiarized young players with World Class floorball, inspired them to carry on playing and provided opportunities for long term development of the sport in Singapore. Through showcase-events, workshops, athlete-exchange programs and other floorball related activities Classic Floorball Academy aspires to develop the sport and make it more known in the Asia Pacific Region.
